Casting Tools works a little differently to other platforms - free for performers and agents, fair for everyone. Here are the questions we get asked most. Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
Do Performers or Agents ever have to pay to use Casting Tools?
No, never. To be listed as a performer or agent is entirely free, and the use of the site is free for those roles. Only Casting Directors need to pay to list jobs!
Can Agents post jobs?
Yes and no. Agents can post jobs to their own performers for free, but they can only send to their own performers. If Agents want to send to performers outside their own cohort, they must add the Casting Director role to their account, and are then bound by those rules.
Why do Casting Directors have to pay to list jobs?
In all other industries in the world, the employer pays to list a job, and prospective employees can apply for free. We are just redressing this balance, which has been wrong in the entertainment industry for decades.
Does Casting Tools take a commission or a % of job fees?
No, absolutely not. The fees paid by the Casting Director (or hirers) are directly paid between the Casting Director and the Agent or Performer. We do not take any commissions or percentages of fees.
If I win a job, who negotiates the contract - the Performer/Agent or Casting Tools?
Any jobs won and the associated contracts are outside of the jurisdiction and terms of the Casting Tools platform. Although we make the introduction via the casting process, any contracts or agreements made are done off-platform and are solely between the two parties - and do not involve Casting Tools.
Do I need to be a professional Performer to have a profile?
Yes. To be a Performer, you need to be a professional working artist, with at least 1 professional photo and at least 1 video or audio reel.
Can I remove myself from Email Marketing?
No. Although legally we are not allowed to force you to stay subscribed to our emails, the system that notifies you if you have won a job is by email. So if our system is notified that you have unsubscribed, we will be forced to remove your profile, as you will not be able to work on any jobs that you win.
Will any of my demos, reels or submissions be used for training or building AI models?
Absolutely not. Not only that, but it is built into our terms of service that no users are allowed to use any media for any AI training or AI use of any kind (without express permission!).
Who owns the reels, demos, images or auditions that I upload?
You, the owner, do. You grant us a license to be able to use and display it on the platform, but all rights remain with you. (NB: it is also a condition of use that you own, or have permission to use, anything that you upload!)

If the Performer and Agent accounts are all free, how does Casting Tools make money?
We charge the Casting Directors to be able to list jobs, in the same way that all other industries do.
